A Study for Decompression of Posterior Rim of Vertebral Body Through the Anterior Approach in Central Herniated Disc and Osteophytes

Abstract
|

|
Purpose: It is common apporoach to do at posterior for decompressing the posterior element and even disc at the spinal surgery. But, in the case of stenosis by osteophytic rim or huge central disc herniation or revision with concerning instrability by sacrifying the facet joint, we have to consider the other approach to save the structures.
Materials and Methods :This study 3 cadeveric lumbar spines are used to determine the possiblility by operative simulation and radiological images.
Results: It is easy to confirming the location to decompress by metatic bars. Also, It is not difficult to decompress by making gutter along the border of rim by drilling and using curved currette.
Conclusion:This study will be very helpful to avoid the sacrifice of facet joint or to decrease the concerning about the injury of nerve tissue in the case of spinal stenosis by central disc herniation or osterophytic rim through the anterior approach spinal surgery.
